    The Empire Mine Historic Park is the location of one of the richest gold mine's dug during the California gold rush. Tours on the grounds include a cottage tour of the mine owners house, tours of the mine-yards, and opening in 2013, an underground tour of the mineshaft itself. The grounds also include beautiful gardens to tour, with some roses planted as far back as 1897!

The park only has tenting campsites, though there are restrooms with running water as well as barbecue pits, there is no electricity available. Non motorized craft are allowed are allowed on the lake, and though fishing is encouraged, it is catch and release only in the lake.
